چکیده
Hadejia-Nguru wetland has been known to be a productive area of Agricultural engagements and fisheries activities allowing for intensive farming fishing activities, effluents from agricultural sewage, chemical seepages enter this water body. This study investigated the levels several heavy metals Mercury (Hg), Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd),Chromium (Cr), Aluminum (Al) in O. niloticus tissues (gills, liver, muscle) collected five sampling sites area. Tissue histology presence antioxidant enzymes revealed degree tissue damage stress fish. The results showed concentrations order Hg>Cr>Pb>Al>Cd, which are higher than maximum residue limits recommended by FAO WHO. Superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), malondialdehyde (MDA), reduced glutathione (GSH) were observed at high gills, muscle. Liver fish level SOD concentration 18.3μg/ml, followed 16.93 μg/ml CAT with 1.48 U/ml was MDA highest liver 1.08n/mol there no significant difference between other organs (P < 0.05). Reduced 18.36 seen Histopathology select i.e. muscle cells that affected toxicity environment. metal toxicity, enzymes, is an indication contamination serves as means monitoring safety freshwater organisms.

Growth and Stress Axis Responses to Dietary Cholesterol in Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in Brackish Water
Six isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets were formulated to contain 0% (control), 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 1.6, or 2.4% dietary cholesterol and fed to juvenile Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) (2.20 ± 0.12 g) twice daily to apparent satiation for 8 weeks in triplicate at a salinity of 16. Fish fed 0.4% cholesterol showed a higher weight gain and specific growth rate and a lower feed coefficient ratio ...
متن کاملAdsorption of heavy metals (Cu, Mn, Fe and Ni) from surface water using Oreochromis niloticus scales
Surface water contains a large number of pollutants, particularly human pathogens, organic toxicants and heavy metals. Due to the toxic nature of heavy metals towards marine organisms, its removal from the environment has been a growing issue. The biosorption of heavy metal ions from surface water using fish scales has emerged as an environmentally friendly technique. This study assessed the de...

Fingerlings of Oreochromis niloticus collected in an artificial urban lake from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, were evaluated for natural infection with trematodes. Morphological taxonomic identification of four fluke species was performed in O. niloticus examined, and the total prevalence of metacercariae was 60.7% (37/61). Centrocestus formosanus, a heterophyid found in the gills, was ...
